Q. Does Southern Company recruit at my school?
A. Please visit our Campus Schedule located in the Campus Recruiting section of the website. If you campus is not listed please apply for our positions on-line, you will still be considered for opportunities.

Q. I am graduating this semester…what do I need to do to secure a job with Southern Company?
A. Please apply for positions on-line and we will communicate with you about opportunities. Also plan to meet a representative at one of our many campus activities. Visit the Campus Recruiting schedule on this site for more information.

Q. Are co-ops/internships paid?
A. Yes. Southern Company offers a competitive co-op and internship compensation. Co-op/Intern salaries are determined by their academic level and major. Students are paid based on the technical and non-technical salary plans. Co-ops are also eligible for several employee benefits such as paid holidays, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and medical, life and dental insurance.

Q. What GPA do I need to apply for a co-op position?
A. Co-ops will need to maintain a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA. Interns will need a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

Q. How many rotations will a Co-op have to complete? Can I change my assignment midway through the program?
A. As a Co-op at Southern Company, you are committed to work 3 alternating semesters in the position you are hired into.

Q. I am a co-op (or intern) that lives in one state and works in another. What state do I pay taxes in?
A. Students are required to pay state taxes in the state where he/she works.

Q. Are co-ops eligible for PPP?
A. No, co-op students are not eligible for the PPP payout.

Q. When a co-op goes on Leave to Graduate, what happens to the vacation time accrued?
A. Co-ops should be paid for any unused vacation at the end of their last work term before they go on Leave to Graduate status.

Q. Are co-ops (or interns) eligible for company administered scholarships?
A. No, as a general rule co-ops/interns are not eligible for scholarships administered by Southern Company. Check with the Student Programs Coordinator if you have questions.

Q. Are co-ops eligible for 401K?
A. No, co-op students are not eligible for the 401K program.

Q. Where should co-op/intern forms (work reports, GIRs) be submitted to?
A. Please email Co-op/Intern forms to the SCS Co-op Inbox.
