Intern Requirements

Our Internship program is designed to give hands-on experience to talented undergraduates in the areas of Engineering, Finance, Business, and Computer Science. With the diverse areas of work, and the depth of in-house experience from which to learn, we feel that we offer some of the most exciting internship work experiences available anywhere.

In order to be most competitive for our Internship opportunities Southern Company prefers a GPA of a 3.0 or greater on a 4.p scale.

Southern Company has opportunities for students in a wide variety of areas. Some of these areas include:

• Power Generation - Students will assist engineers in our generating plants (fossil fuel and nuclear).
• Power Delivery - Students will assist engineers in the design of electrical systems to deliver power to Southern Company's many customers.
• Marketing, Accounting and Finance - Students will work in teams identifying issues and strategies, performing quantitative analysis and valuations, creating recommendations and execution of business plans for domestic projects.
• Information Technology - Students gain experience in trouble-shooting, networking, and designing computer applications. In order to qualify for the Internship.
