- In the Southeast, electricity demand is expected to increase more than 32 percent during the next 15 years, far outpacing the demand growth in other regions of the country.
- Southern Company projects that growth in its service territory will result in a need for more than 15,000 additional megawatts of generating capacity by 2025.*
- Southern Company projects the need for 90,000 mw of new generation by 2028 in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and the Carolinas.**
