Southern Power Projects

Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is a leading U.S. wholesale energy provider meeting the electricity needs of municipalities, electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities and other energy customers. Southern Power and its subsidiaries own 47 facilities operating or under construction in 11 states with more than 12,800 MW of generating capacity in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas.

Wind

Southern Power currently owns more than 1,590 megawatts of wind generating capacity at nine facilities operating or under development in Maine, Oklahoma and Texas. In August 2017, the company announced its fifth wind facility in Texas, the 148-MW Cactus Flats Wind Facility.

Biomass

Southern Power began commercial operation of the Nacogdoches Generating Facility in Sacul, Texas, in 2012. The 115-megawatt plant - one of the largest wood-fired biomass plants in the U.S. - serves the city of Austin.

Solar

Southern Power currently owns more than 1,760 megawatts of solar generating capacity at 27 facilities operating in California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas. Nine of these facilities are co-owned by third parties, with Southern Power having the majority ownership.
