Emissions Control

Southern Company has been investing resources into environmental protection since the 1970s. Every day, more than 200 people work to ensure our facilities operate in an environmentally sound manner.

Since the 1990s, we've spent nearly $3.8 billion on environmental controls. Southern Company is spending an additional $3.9 billion over the next three years to further lower emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and mercury.
