Personal and professional development doesn’t have to be put off
For many people, professional development happens at a conference, meeting or summit, and with many organizations canceling events, the timeline to return to a meeting in person isn’t well known. But that doesn’t mean you have to cancel your development opportunities.
You may have already had a conference or event canceled or rescheduled for next year, so what to do in the meantime? Well, the answer may be as simple as a quick online search. It may not be cancelled, just rearranged to a virtual event.
You may first want to check the website of the conference or organization you’re interested in to see if the development opportunity has been moved to virtual. Even Apple, one of the world’s largest phone and computer manufacturers, is taking its famed Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) digital. Here are a few resources to search out online conferences and events to keep your mind sharp and develop new skills, even from home.
Eventbrite - Eventbrite has thousands of online events that can help you develop your skills.
TED - You’ve probably already been inspired by a TED talk, but they also have virtual conferences and local TEDx talks moving to virtual.
Masterclass - Masterclass videos are a treasure trove of development resources from the experts themselves. You can explore the world’s greatest in design, photography, and fashion, business, politics and society, film and tv, writing, sports and games, music and entertainment, science and technology, culinary arts and lifestyle.
