Southern Power Projects
Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is a leading U.S. wholesale energy provider meeting the electricity needs of municipalities, electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities and other energy customers. Southern Power and its subsidiaries own 48 facilities operating or under construction in 11 states with more than 11,300 MW of generating capacity in Alabama, California, Georgia, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas.
Wind
Southern Power currently owns more than 1,890 megawatts of wind generating capacity at 11 facilities operating or under construction in Kansas, Maine, Oklahoma and Texas. In October 2018, the company announced its first wind facility in Kansas, the 200-MW Reading Wind Facility.

Biomass
Southern Power began commercial operation of the Nacogdoches Generating Facility in Sacul, Texas, in 2012. The 115-megawatt plant - one of the largest wood-fired biomass plants in the U.S. - serves the city of Austin.
