Southern Nuclear recognized for top safety performance among regional peers
Southern Nuclear was recently awarded the Southeastern Electric Exchange Safety Performance Award for top performance in nuclear generation safety in 2016. Safety performance was compared to regional peer companies including Duke Energy, SC&G Electric, First Energy, AEP&G, Dominion, Entergy and Florida Power & Light.
The award was accepted by Joe Parham, Fleet Safety and Health manager, and behavior-based safety facilitators Beverly Foreman, Plant Hatch senior chemistry technician, and Ferdinand Apilado, Plant Farley I&C technician, at the SEE’s annual conference in Atlanta.
“It was a humbling experience to accept this award on behalf of Southern Nuclear. It wasn’t earned by an individual or department, but by each and every employee across our fleet,” said Parham. “Industrial safety performance is a measurable outcome based on the values of an organization’s culture. We all expect to go home each day as safe and healthy as when we walked in the door, and it takes an uncompromising attitude of being your brother’s keeper to make that happen. I’m honored to work alongside a family of employees who are committed to caring about themselves and one another”.
