Southern Company has announced the promotion of Johnny Howze to senior vice president of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization.
A 31-year veteran of the Southern Company system, Howze has served as vice president of SCM Operations since 2019. He has led teams to accelerate operational excellence in category and risk management and developed strategies that support Southern Company Gas, fossil and hydro generation, power delivery and shared services, including in demand planning, supplier diversity and supply chain data analytics.
“Johnny’s demonstrated leadership and vision for the future will help enable our SCM team to continue delivering the value those we serve depend on from us,” said Stan Connally, executive vice president of Operations and CEO of Southern Company Services.
Howze is an active alumnus of the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He serves on the advisory boards of the University of Alabama’s mechanical engineering department and the Paul Jones Museum of American Art. The university’s college of engineering named him a distinguished fellow in 2019. He also completed the executive MBA program at Kennesaw State University.
