Southern Company today announced the promotion of Schuyler J. Baehman to vice president of communications, effective May 1, 2021.
Baehman joined Southern Company in 2017 as a senior media strategist serving as the spokesperson and media relations representative for the organization. He added responsibilities for executive communication, including communications for the chairman, president and chief executive officer, as well as the internal communications for the organization. In his new role, Baehman also assists the company’s branding efforts.
Prior to joining Southern Company Baehman most recently served as the director of communications and player relations for the National Hockey League. Based in the league’s New York City headquarters, his responsibilities included media relations, media operations and media logistics around major events including the NHL All-Star Game and the Stanley Cup Final, and was part of the team that launched the NHL Winter Classic and NHL Stadium Series outdoor games.
Before working at the NHL, Baehman provided media relations support on behalf of various sports and entertainment clients at Dan Klores Communications (DKC) and was assistant managing editor of SportsBusiness Daily. He is a graduate of the Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin.
