Our Mission

Students of Southern Company is a student-led organization designed to connect and engage Southern Company interns and co-ops across multiple business units. With chapters in Alabama/Mississippi and Georgia, the organization bridges geographic distance by offering opportunities such as plant tours, community service events, and professional development seminars.

Through these initiatives, members can network, collaborate on meaningful projects, and maximize the value and impact of their internship experience.

Leadership

The Students of Southern Company Executive Board is a select group of student leaders elected by their peers to represent and enhance the intern and co-op experience. This committee plays a vital role in planning and delivering impactful community service initiatives, social networking opportunities, and professional development programs—ensuring that all students have a meaningful, engaging, and well-rounded experience throughout their rotations.

Plant tours & site visits

Site tours give participants a firsthand look at how Southern Company delivers safe, reliable and diverse energy — from nuclear and fossil generation to renewables. These visits turn classroom learning into real-world understanding of how each generation type powers an integrated energy network.

Community service & connection

Community service and outreach opportunities allow students to engage directly with the communities Southern Company serves while supporting meaningful causes. Through volunteer efforts, participants build connections, strengthen teamwork and empathy and gain a deeper sense of purpose by giving back. These experiences reflect a broader commitment to community impact beyond the workplace.
