EPRI and Southern Company announced that EPRI’s next Electrification International Conference & Exposition will take place March 10-14, 2024, in Savannah, Ga. The announcement was made during Electrification 2022, held in person this week in North Carolina. Continuing the momentum from this year’s conference, Electrification 2024 will bring together innovators and decision-makers from across the electrification spectrum. Electrification 2024 will accelerate progress toward a more equitable, affordable and resilient low-carbon energy sector and net-zero economy for all.
“It’s great to return to in-person events to collaborate with key energy stakeholders around electrification initiatives and we’re thrilled to have Southern Company as the host utility for Electrification 2024,” said EPRI President and CEO Arshad Mansoor. “As decarbonization targets shift from aspiration to expectation for companies and countries around the globe, the electric sector will continue to fulfill a crucial role in advancing a net-zero economy. Many sectors—including transportation, buildings, and industry—will achieve large carbon emissions reductions through electrification and other low-carbon energy strategies. All sectors must work together to achieve electrification solutions that are practicable and scalable to meet the needs of every community.”
EPRI’s Electrification conference is the only event that brings together the entire ecosystem of electric technologies and stakeholders to collaborate around e-mobility (consumer and fleet vehicles and infrastructure), residential and commercial building decarbonization, industrial applications, agriculture, policy, regulatory developments, and more. It features a comprehensive agenda with expert speakers, an all-encompassing exhibit hall and multiple networking functions.
“Southern Company is honored to host Electrification 2024,” said Stan Connally, Southern Company's executive vice president of Operations, and chairman, president, and CEO of its Southern Company Services subsidiary. “We are excited to welcome Electrification 2024 to Georgia, where we proudly serve millions of homes and businesses with the abundant, resilient energy that powers the economy and makes life better for so many.”
Connally, who also serves as chair of EPRI’s board of directors, said, “As we ensure clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy for all those we are privileged to serve, we are committed to a sustainable and equitable net-zero energy system for everyone. Efficient electrification supported by research and innovation is essential to deep, economy-wide decarbonization that powers economic growth and a brighter future for all.”
Southern Company manages a robust electrification R&D program that has a history of developing and bringing to market cost-effective electric end-use technologies for the benefit of industrial, commercial and residential customers, Connally noted. The company’s work with EPRI is actively engaged in promoting cost-effective and efficient electrification of transportation, industrial processes, and buildings, as well as their optimal integration with the grid.
